Spread out over 189 acres on beautiful Mission Bay Park, SeaWorld is known for spectacular animal shows, interactive attractions, aquariums, rides, beautiful landscaping, dining facilities and education programs for all ages. SeaWorld is now home to more than 20,000 animals, including 16 species of marine mammals, more than 430 species of fish and more than 100 species of birds.
The world-famous killer whale Shamu has thrilled guests from around the world for many years as the headliner in his own Shamu show. California sea lions Clyde and Seamore continue to entertain audiences.
Penguin Encounter is home to more than 250 penguins representing five Antarctic and sub-Antarctic species, while Shark Encounter takes guests underwater with sharks, rays and tropical fish. The 280,000-gallon attraction features a 57-foot acrylic tube running the length of the sharks' habitat. Sand tiger, bonnethead, blacktip and whitetip reef sharks are among those living in this popular attraction.
Shipwreck Rapids takes passengers on an adventure that includes raging rapids, roaring waterfalls, sunbathing sea turtles and a near collision with a ship's propeller.
Hours: vary by season. Extended hours during holidays and from May to Labor Day. Tours (fees): guided behind the scene and animal encounters. Admission.
