Mt. Desert Island, home to the quaint town of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, offers some of Maine’s best scenery, history, outdoor recreation – sailing, hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, golf and biking, as well as connections with nature – whale, seal, puffin and bird watching.
Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor, Maine, works closely with the Friends of Acadia to bring old abandoned hiking trails back into the park's trail system. As a result of their efforts, two trails, the Penobscot Mountain Trail and the Sargent East Cliffs Trail, are now back on the map.
