South Carolina's Charleston International Airport Opens Cell Phone Waiting Area

A new cellular telephone waiting lot is available at Charleston International Airport as a service to those picking up passengers. The parking lot allows drivers to wait until passengers have landed, picked up their luggage and are awaiting curbside. This lot is free, provided drivers remain in their vehicle.

The convenient, temporary parking option, located on Terminal Loop Road to the right as you drive away from the terminal building, is intended for drivers picking up passengers who have been delayed or for drivers who have arrived early. The cell phone wait lot was created in an effort to relieve congestion during arrival and departure periods.

Because parking, standing, and waiting at the terminal's curb is not permitted, arriving passengers should collect their luggage first, then arrange for pick-up at the terminal's curb. This area is to be utilized only for active loading and unloading.

There are no telephones or restroom facilities in the cell phone waiting area. Vehicles left unattended will be towed immediately at the operator's expense.
