Florida Gulf Coast Shopping at Sarasota

If you can imagine visitors not wanting to spend every waking moment on the beach, shopping is always an option in Bradenton, Sarasota and nearby communities. Anna Maria and Longboat Key are known for their specialty boutiques, offering everything from island wear and novelties to hand-made jewelry and art. Bradenton’s downtown houses numerous antique shops, while the nearby Village of the Arts features more than 40 cottage-like galleries for artists from around the world. Bargain-hunters can score big at Prime Outlets in Ellenton, but if price is not a problem, upscale St. Armand’s Circle on Sarasota’s Lido Key is the place to go for a variety of exclusive shoe, clothing and gift stores, among others.

For contemporary art, visitors can explore downtown Sarasota, laden with art galleries, bookstores, theaters and stylish shops. Discover Towles Court, a unique artist’s colony that has rejuvenated the neighborhood. Bright colors permeate the streets with remarkable sculptures, a statue-filled courtyard and fluorescent-colored buildings. In contrast, on Venice’s quaint Main Street charming shops and galleries with rotating artists-in-residence, complement the seaside town.
