The Skidaway Institute of Oceanography is a marine research laboratory on the north end of Skidaway Island near Savannah. Its research vessel, Savannah, is used by scientists to conduct oceanographic research ranging from Cape Hatteras to the Gulf of Mexico. Skidaway Institute shares its campus with several other organizations including the University of Georgia (UGA) Marine Education Center and Aquarium*. (*see separate listing)
Hours & Admission
By appointment. Free.
Tours of the institute are available by appointment, typically the last Friday of the month, 2:00 p.m., when the vessel is in port.
