Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens

Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens is the former home of F.A. Seiberling, the founder of The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company and his family. Stan Hywet includes a 65-room manor house and more than 70 acres of artfully landscaped grounds.

Carriage Hill MetroPark

7800 East Shull Road
Dayton, Ohio
This is a 1880s-working farm on 900 acres with draft horses, vegetable gardens and preserving of food, plus a video presentation and interactive exhibits for the whole family. The park offers hiking trails, a horseback riding center, birding, cross-country skiing and sledding, among other activities.

Cleveland Botanical Gardens

Cleveland Metroparks

Because of the location of the various parks around the city, they are often referred to as the "Emerald Necklace." With more than 21,000 acres at 16 reservations (parks) visitors have considerable recreational opportunities available. Select from: golfing (six courses), swimming (four locations), fishing, walking and hiking trails, picnicking and sledding. Educational programs are also held.

Lake Farmpark

This agricultural-based park showcases farming, country life and the science behind how it works. Visitors are invited to milk a cow, take a wagon ride, and learn about 50 breeds of farm animals - including a working Border collie, wind and solar power and field crops, plus gardening.

Lake Metroparks

Lake Metroparks oversees 40 parks, properties and facilities in Lake County encompassing 7,625 acres. Two rivers - and their tributaries flow through the park district. Visitors are able to experience recreational and educational opportunities at a diverse number of facilities: an agricultural themed park, a nature center, a wildlife rehabilitation center, two golf courses, a 4.8-mile paved bike/hike trail and a cross-country ski center.

Penitentiary Glen Reservation

8668 Kirtland-Chardon Road
Kirtland, Ohio
The 424-acre park, named for the gorge that divides the property, occupies the former summer retreat of the Halle family. The nature center with exhibits, shows and a store occupies an outbuilding of the previous owners. A miniature steam powered train seasonally operates within the park. The park has hiking trails, picnic areas and the Kevin P. Clinton Wildlife Center showcasing native species. Naturalist programs are offered.
